Foibos Apostolidis was born on May 2nd, 1989 in the city of Katerini (Pieria, north Greece) and grew up in a family of dilettante musicians. In 2007 he moved to Thessaloniki to study at the "Faculty of Forestry and Natural Environment" of the Aristotle University from which he graduated in 2016. Since childhood he has shown a keen interest in music and at the age of 19 he decided to cope with music professionaly.
His passion for music, and rhythm in particular, has led him to seek for appropriate teachers to study the art of percussion instruments. At first he had lessons of East Mediterranean percussion (Darbuka, Riq, Bendir, Davul) with Loukas Metaxas, and received a scholarship from the "En chordais" music school to attend the "Roots and routes" summer courses in Rotterdam (Holland). He then attended Darbuka and rhythmology lessons with Dimitris Panagoulias. He discovered his love for Indian classical music and studied Tabla and Hindustani rhythmology with Sakis Laios. Since 2015 he has been learning the Tabla alongside Hiren Chate, a world renowned performer, representative of the Punjab Gharana and disciple of Pt. Yogesh Shamsi.
Foibos Apostolidis has been continuously developing his musical expression, dealing with diverse musical genres such as greek folk, pontic, turkish, arabic, gupsy, world music, jazz, as well as many others. He has participated in numerous music ensembles, accompanying soloists in concerts in Greece and abroad. He is a regular member of the "Mirror Tuners" and "Loxandra" music ensemble's.
